Samantha & Eric

I walked down to Neptune Coffee (otherwise known as my office) on December 29th of 2007 expecting to meet Samantha Pruitt, a prospective client. Lo and behold, Samantha brought a posse with her, complete with fiance, sister and mother. I have to admit, I was a little thrown off at first. Little did I know, there was no cause for alarm. Samantha's family was absolutely charming and extremely keen on design. Her mom, Carol Pruitt, has a great little jewelry/gift store, Flourish, in Tacoma, WA.

Samantha's blog, Soon2BSonju, originally featured wedding ideas and now serves to showcase all sorts of cool finds. Here's a gorgeous photo from the wedding day. Her wedding might have come and gone but you can surely still benefit from all of her ideas.

As for her invitation, Samantha's graphic design background meant that she had a very strong idea of what she wanted: silhouettes. She used these extensively throughout the wedding reception. The real challenge here was the type and layout. We went round and round for a little bit only to end up exactly where we started. Sometimes you just have to see all the other options to realize that you were right all along.

Chelsea & Landon

I used to work with Chelsea at a Seattle architecture firm. She married her college sweetheart, Landon, in October of 2008. They are an adorable couple and were a delight to work with. Here's a still of them exiting their wedding reception in Seaside, Florida. Judging from the pics, it was a really fun wedding. By the way, the wedding photography is by Robby Followell of Mississippi, where the couple is from.

Chelsea originally wanted a floral motif of peonies or hydrangeas and a fairly contemporary typeface and layout. As the wedding planning evolved and the location was set on the beach, we toyed with several nautical motifs. We finally settled on coral, which was also featured throughout the reception. The design process is ALWAYS different. Chelsea had a very strong idea to begin with but we still ended up in a completely different, yet happy place. We deal with brides just like Chelsea all the time. We also deal with couples who know exactly what they want and it actually works and then there are the couples who have no idea where to begin. It doesn't matter which kind of couple you are. That's what you pay us for; to design something you will love.
